Building the backend for a global game launch campaign

About the client
Stink Studios is a leading global creative agency known for producing high quality digital experiences for some of the world’s biggest brands. In 2023, they partnered with Paco Rabanne to launch an interactive game as part of a major campaign promoting a new product.
The challenge
To support the launch, Stink Studios created LA Speed, a fast paced browser based game where players fly a car through a stylised Los Angeles skyline. The front end gameplay experience was strong, but they needed a robust backend system to handle real time score tracking, player submissions and a global leaderboard that could support high volumes of traffic throughout the campaign.
The backend needed to be secure, fast and reliable, with accurate scoring logic and the ability to process thousands of player entries without delays or inconsistencies. It also required clean integration with the front end so that the transition from gameplay to score submission felt seamless.
The solution
Nyble worked alongside the Stink Studios team to build the backend systems that powered the game’s competitive features.
Key responsibilities included:
- Developing the scoring logic to accurately calculate each player’s result
- Capturing player names and submissions at the end of each game
- Building a secure API to receive game data from the front end
- Creating a global leaderboard that updated in real time
- Ensuring high performance and stability during peak campaign traffic
- Implementing validation and anti manipulation checks to maintain fairness
The backend was designed to be lightweight, scalable and reliable, allowing Stink Studios to focus fully on the creative experience while knowing the technical foundations were solid.
The impact
LA Speed launched successfully as part of Paco Rabanne’s 2023 campaign and received high engagement from players across the world. The leaderboard performed reliably throughout the campaign period, processing large volumes of submissions without interruption.
By handling the backend development, Nyble enabled Stink Studios to deliver an interactive experience that felt polished, competitive and smooth from start to finish. The collaboration ensured the game could support global participation and provided Paco Rabanne with a memorable digital activation for their launch.
